Today, I wanted to share with you one of my all-time favorite Italian dishes: Chicken Parmesan. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! If you’ve never had it before, you’re in for a treat.
So, what is Chicken Parmesan exactly? It’s a dish that consists of crispy breaded chicken, topped with melty mozzarella cheese and tangy tomato sauce. It’s usually served over a bed of pasta, but you can also enjoy it with a side of garlic bread or a salad.
The first step in making Chicken Parmesan is to bread the chicken. You’ll need some flour, eggs, and breadcrumbs. I like to add some Italian seasoning to the breadcrumbs for extra flavor. Dip the chicken in the flour, then the egg, then the breadcrumbs, and place it on a baking sheet. Repeat with the remaining chicken.
Next, you’ll want to bake the chicken in the oven until it’s golden and crispy. This usually takes about 20-25 minutes at 375°F.
While the chicken is baking, you can make the tomato sauce. You’ll need some canned tomatoes, garlic, onion, and Italian seasoning. Saute the garlic and onion in some olive oil until they’re soft, then add the canned tomatoes and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes until it’s thick and flavorful.
When the chicken is done, take it out of the oven and top each piece with some tomato sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese. Pop it back in the oven for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
And that’s it! You now have a delicious and satisfying meal of Chicken Parmesan. It’s perfect for a cozy night in or for impressing your dinner guests.
